President's Message Fall 2014

With Fall upon us and Farberallye having been run by the time you read this, our events for the year are over. I'd like to thank all the members who ran and volunteered for events, all of you did an outstanding job.

We need more and new events. Have an idea? Send me an email and we'll do it. New events would bring out more members which makes events more fun for everyone. The Club is about meeting new members and making new friends.

We have been working on Starfest 2016 since January and have signed the contracts with Mohegan Sun and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park along with two major sponsors. The website should be up by March with full page ad's in The Star starting in June. There is a lot of work to do and if you feel you have a skill to add please contact me. We'll need help with, hospitality, track events, registration to name just a few.

I can be reached at 860-315-5575 or [email protected] .

President's Message Summer 2014

I hope everyone has had a chance to dry out, I've heard that Ark's are selling at a premium!

We need members to run new events, with the exception of the Pumpkin Rallye last year and the Autocross this year, the same members run the same events every year. Not only is it unfair to the members running the events, but I can't believe that out of 750 members no one steps up to run a new event. You'll get all the help you need from the Board and I. It's not hard, you may think what you have in mind for an event won't fly, run it past us.

The  Autocross run in may had 21 members learning how to drive there Mercedes-Benz at their personal limits with a number of members trying to find the limits of their cars. Everyone had a big smile at the end of each run. It was a great way to use the handling and safety features of our MB's. I'd like to run another in the fall and hope to have an even larger turn out, I think holding it on Memorial Day weekend hurt attendance, my fault. Let me know if there is interest and we'll make it happen.

As always I can be reached at [email protected] or 860-315-5575., Mercedes-Benz Club America

President's Message Spring 2014

Finally some warm weather to take the SL out. I thought this Winter would never end!

In February we held our Annual Meeting and once again Rich Garrick did a great job. I would like to thank the Membership for returning the same slate of Officers. We have a Board that works well together and with a potentially large task looming on the horizon, continuity will be key.

By the time you read this the EAS Open House will have been run, so I'll thank Ed, Tim and Scott for being a huge supporters of the MM Section.

Next up is the Autocross at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. This is a great opportunity to explore the handling features of your Mercedes-Benz and have a lot of fun. Deadline is May 15th.

There are more events in the works and I encourage all of you to join in.
